Barrco Enterprises
“The bonding program as a whole was a great experience for our business. We came into the program knowing very little in regards to the bonding process, what they were or even where to get them. Now I'm able to sit in a public webinar and understand all of the concepts and terms when they're speaking about bonding and so many other topics covered in class. I feel really prepared to take on this realm of public contracts and I wouldn't have that knowledge without this wonderful program. Thank you all.”

-Kelshall Alleyne, Chief Operations Officer, Barrco Enterprises LLC

"Simply put, GetDiggy as a small business starting out had the rare opportunity to be seated at the table and experience firsthand what it takes not just to lead but to do so united. “I am beyond proud and excited to finally be able to state that my company is officially bonded.  Completing the Small Business Bonding Readiness Assistance Program offered by the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and NJEDA proved itself to be an overall great business decision. I have to commend the clear direct approach of the instructions given in the class from day one. Right from the start the class helped me figure out where I stand in the process and exactly where I needed to be in order to be qualified and become bonded."

“I would like first to commend The African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ (AACCNJ) for their insight and leadership in pursuit of a program so vital and intricate for Minority and Small businesses today's Engineering / Construction business industry environment. Second the level of precision and quality of the program's Principal Ms. Joanne Brooks and Associates was of the highest and refreshing level of professional performance and conduct that I have not come across in quite a while."

-Aaron Bethea, Executive Director, Principle IX Associates, LLC

Property Maintenance Guys
“As contractor who is constantly looking to improve and get to the next level, this is thus far the best class I have taken. Because I wasted so much time taking other classes and courses, I went in expecting the same old “were going to get you contracts with the big developers/GC’s” stuff, but nothing ever happens. But from the beginning CanDice Miller and Mary Griffin cared about everything from making sure I got into the class, to making sure I understood what the class was about to making sure we all have the right connections to move forward to the next level. What I have learned was way more than expected as well the people I met."

-Geoffrey Allen, PMG

UPLYFT Home Improvement
"The program was packed with knowledge that is useful to scale my business. I now have access to leading industry professionals covering each scope of the commercial construction business. This is a true value add for a beginner in the commercial arena. I gained a tremendous amount of resources and colleague connections that will benefit my future growth." " Overall, it was a great opportunity! I feel blessed to have been one of the chosen to go through it. Thank you!”

You arranged the classroom location which is very convenient and safe, you prepared always nice warm meals before the class and you invited all the instructors whom are very helpful with most useful up- to- date knowledge and industry information. I also met with some amazing classmates who are contractors. We stay in touch and look forward to working together in the future."

I was given advice and the tools to address my issues and get myself through the bonding process. The energy that Ms. Brooks and Mr. Jarvis brought to the class was amazing. They held us accountable and made sure we were taking advantage of the opportunities that were there. This class was great and really changed things for my business going forward. I would recommend it to anyone."

The African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ) has entered into a partnership with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to establish and facilitate the Small Business Bonding Readiness Assistance Program. This initiative is designed to better position New Jersey small, minority- and women-owned businesses to compete for state, county, municipal, agency or government contracts in the public sector.

The AACCNJ is dedicated to fostering a climate of business growth and plays an essential role in the economic viability of New Jersey. The AACCNJ provides a platform for small, minority- and women-owned businesses to remain competitive in New Jersey’s robust economy. As part of the Small Business Bonding Readiness Assistance Program, eligible companies will participate in technical assistance training courses to increase bonding knowledge and capacity. While the program focuses on construction and development industries, we welcome applicants from all sectors. Tuition grants will cover the cost of the training for those businesses selected to take part in the program. There will be no cost to participating small businesses.

We will be holding educational workshops throughout the state to educate and engage potential applicants. Attending businesses will benefit from accessing information and resources made publicly available without having formally enrolled in the program. As part of the educational workshops, participants should expect to:
  • Learn more about bonding and its importance
  • Gain a firm understanding of how to run your business effectively
  • Learn the steps to securing bonding
  • Review the program application process and the components of a successful application
  • Receive assistance applying through the online portal

If a business is accepted into the program, they will participate in classes taught by subject matter experts focusing on several subject areas to enhance business practices, including but not limited to: bonding, insurance, business development, financial presentation, personal credit, and business credit.

To register, you can visit our online portal here.

We thank you for joining us in our efforts to increase the competitiveness of New Jersey and empower our small, minority- and women-owned businesses. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 609-599-1497, and we hope to see you at our upcoming Small Business Bonding Assistance Program Educational Outreach Session December 3rd, 2019.
