Ernest Williams

Mr. Williams retired after a quarter of a century of service at New Jersey Transit, he held the position as Director - Office of Business Diversity Programs. Mr. Williams was responsible for the certification of minority and women businesses as Disadvantaged Business Enterprises for participation on federally assisted projects. Mr. Williams also provided small business development training.

In addition to his work at NJ Transit, Mr. Williams is Vice President of the Human and Civil Rights Association of New Jersey, and Commissioner of the Orange Township Housing Board. He is also a former Board member of the Greater Newark Business Development Consortium, former Board member of "Career Works Vocational and Technical Training School", former Vice Chair of the "New Jersey Chinese American Chamber of Commerce" and present Board member of "Above the Rim", a non-profit youth development organization.

Mr. Williams has been recognized by various business and community organizations for his commitment to small businesses and to his community. He is a 2004 and 2007 recipient of the New Jersey Chinese American Chamber of Commerce's MBE/WBE Cordinator of the Year Award, a Silver Bowl Trophy Award winner from the Department of Social Services, Grand Rapids, Michigan Award of appreciation from the Essex County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the NY/NJ Minority Purchasing Council's Leadership Award, a two-time award winner of NJ Transit's Distinguished Achievement Award, a two-time winner of "Award of Excellence" by Odyssey International Productions, "Business Coordinator of the Year" by the Professional Women in Construction of New York, "MBE/WBE Coordinator of the Year" by Diversity Plus Magazine and awarded "Public Sector Advocate of the Year" by the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey. Mr. Williams is frequently asked to participate on various business related panels and to serve as keynote speaker at various business related conferences.

Although Mr. Williams has retired from NJ Transit, he continues to assist small businesses through his new enterprise, providing consulting and business development services. Mr. Williams' new venture is called, "ECWilliams Consulting, LLC."
