Areas you service: Originally, we focused primarily on New Jersey, PA & parts of Delaware. Post-Pandemic, we have expanded our network and our capacity to serve clients across the country through a combination of direct services and through the development of Strategic Partnerships.
Business Summary: We serve our clients by helping them improve profitability and cash flow, enhance their capacity for growth, through strategic planning, and improving their ability to access capital. Some of our services include:
How many years have you been in business? Over 25 years in the banking industry, 38 years as a real estate investor, ultimately leading to the formation of the consulting practice, Main Street Advisory, LLC, about 5 years ago.
How did you become involved in the real estate industry? I initially got involved in the real estate industry by becoming a licensed real estate sales agent in 1978. By 1982 I made the determination that enjoyed buying and owning more than selling real estate as an agent. That led to my long-standing involvement in the acquisition, rehab, financing, and portfolio management of residential single-family, multi-family, and commercial mixed-use real estate.
What motivates you? I am motivated by the capacity to positively impact the lives of others in ways great and small and giving back as a way of honoring those who have contributed to my life in ways that taught me how to live, prosper, contribute, and triumph over life's situations and circumstances.
What’s an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know? An interesting fact about my business that most people don't know is our capacity to serve across many industries is more than meets the eye. This is because of the body of work across many different types of businesses through sales, operations, management, strategy, and planning in the private, public, non-profit and corporate sectors. This coupled with the strategic partnerships we have established over the years provides the unique capacity to serve wide and deep for many lines of business.
When did you join the AACCNJ? I have been associated with the chamber going back to the days of the Metropolitan Trenton African American Chamber of Commerce and my corporate days. MTAACC was the predecessor organization to the AACCNJ we know today. My current business has been a member for the past several years and I have served as Treasurer on the Board for about three years or so now.
As someone doing business in New Jersey, how does the chamber help you? As someone doing business in New Jersey, the chamber helps with access. Because of the chamber's credibility and depth of relationships, we are able to gain access to expand our network, which serves my business and the businesses of others around me.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your AACCNJ Membership? The most valuable aspect of my Membership has been, it has allowed me to serve the chamber and the business community with skills I've developed throughout my career both as an entrepreneur and corporate employee, which serves me personally by providing a deep sense of purpose and gratification by aligning my mission with the mission of the chamber.
What advice would you give to other AACCNJ Members? The advice I would give to other members is to not only maintain their membership, in the chamber but take full advantage of their membership by learning about all the resources and tools the chamber provides. Furthermore, I would advise fellow members to complete their capability statements, take advantage of the landing page on the chamber website for greater exposure, and participate and get to know other members to enhance their ability to do business with fellow members.
When you are not working, where do you enjoy spending your time in New Jersey? When I am not working, I enjoy spending private time with family and friends in a variety of activities, including golfing, camping, swimming, bowling, shooting pool, and good conversation on a wide variety of topics.
Who is your favorite sports team? Unlike many of my family members and friends, although I enjoy all sports, I am not overly interested, nor do I follow or know the stats of any players. Growing up in my old neighborhood in South Trenton, I was more impressed with people like Mr. Dillard than any sports figures of the day. Mr. Dillard, who was my best friend's dad growing up, was the only person I knew who read the Wall Street Journal, a number of other papers, and journals every day. He had an eighth-grade education, yet knew more and could converse more intelligently about the world around us than most, and taught himself about the world of investing and built at least a million-dollar portfolio and retired from his job at the state at least 10-years before most of his contemporaries. He was the first one I knew who was truly the "millionaire next door" to coin a phrase from the book so titled. Yet he lived a simple, non-flashy life, in the neighborhood.
Throughout my life, I've been more impressed with the unsung, unknown heroes who contributed their ideas and wisdom into my life. People like this made a difference in my life and along with my parents, many other extended family members, aunts, and uncles along with the grand artificer of the universe are the reason I'm still standing. Without them and a few wrong turns and life for me would have been incredibly and potentially negatively different.
The debt I owe, which I can never repay is to them and it is why I do what I do. It is also why I say to people, I don't work for free, but I stopped working for money many years ago. Some people get it and some don't, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

In 2019, African & American Braidings Inc. was featured on three pages inside Essence Magazine October Edition with Assembly Women Angela V. McKnight and Shanique Speight. The article discussed hair braiding liscensing reform in the State of NJ inititated by myself, President, Brigitte F. Nzali, at the red tape commission hearing in 2017.

Business Summary: Daniel Productions produces high-quality creative video programs. We have won dozens of industry and film festival awards. Our award-winning productions include training, marketing, documentaries, corporate communications, commercials, and nationally broadcast PSA's. We are communication experts and visual storytellers. Our services include creative concept development, script writing, location/studio shooting, graphics and editing.
How many years have you been in business?
We have been in business for 30 years and have produced dozens of programs with various budgets. Some of our clients include; The AACCNJ, The Department of Defense, The Ronald McDonald House, SANS Security and Comcast Cable. Our company slogan “If you have an idea, or need one, call us!”, exemplifies our confidence and expertise in developing creative concepts for our video productions. We provide great ideas for our clients’ projects, but we can also help develop ideas that clients bring to us. Video is a powerful medium and the impact of some of our programs has been greater than we ever imagined.
Sample Projects:
“Leaders Making a Difference” PSA aired on CBS during the Army -Navy game half-time

“Spirit of Discovery” Science program for kids played at the National Science Center Theatre

“Pathway to Success” (Trailer) Business program for the AACCNJ
http://danielproductions.tv/portfolio/pathway-to-success-trailer/
How did you become involved in video business? My father was always filming the family back in the day with the bright strip lights and his 8mm camera. I think that is where my interest in film got started. I earned my degree in Visual communications from Kean University.
What motivates you? I love what I do. Video production challenges me creatively and technically, and that is motivating. Creating something from nothing is an extremely rewarding experience. I take pride in my work and even though the project is for the client, I have a personal stake in it and strive to make it the best it can be. It is very satisfying to know that something I worked on is making an impact on someone.
What’s an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know? I don’t think people realize how much thought, work and effort goes into creating a good program. It is all about communicating and telling a story, and video production has many ways to communicate. Everything you see and hear on TV is done for a reason; the sound, the lack of sound, colors, the angles, the lighting and the words are all part of the communicator’s arsenal. One of my favorite college books was “The Art of Persuasion” because it shows there is a science behind communicating.
When did you join the AACCNJ? I joined the Chamber in January 2017.
As someone doing business in New Jersey, how does the chamber help you? The Chamber is a resource. It provides a way to get information and develop possible leads. The meetings not only provide valuable information, but they also offer a good opportunity to network.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your AACCNJ Membership? John Harmon has been instrumental in providing me with two major opportunities to work for the Chamber. The first opportunity was to produce the AACCNJ Marketing video. Most of you now know that the AACCNJ has a new television show (“Pathway to Success), that is being aired on NJTV (New Jersey’s PBS station). This is not only another accomplishment for the Chamber, it is a huge honor and success story for my company that would never have come to fruition without the help of John Harmon and the AACCNJ staff.
I remember when I joined the Chamber and had my introductory meeting with John. I pitched my idea for an AACCNJ television show. He liked the idea and asked me to write something up and get back to him. I developed marketing, demographic material, a demo trailer and came back with a format and outline for the program. After some time, we met and spoke several times and when he was satisfied and felt we were ready to move forward, he said let’s make it happen. What would be a major feat for most, with one phone call, John set-up a meeting with NJTV’s President. We left that meeting with a commitment for them to air the show! Next, because of John and Jacqueline’s efforts in lining up sponsors and booking outstanding guests, our first show aired in April and we have five shows in the can (all shot before COVID-19).
What advice would you give to other AACCNJ Members? Participate in the activities they offer whenever you can. Read through the members section on the website to see what other members do. They may have service’s you need, or they may need what you have to offer. Take advantage of the resources that the Chamber has.
When you are not working, where do you enjoy spending your time in New Jersey? My wife and I spend a lot of time at the beach walking Ace, our Boston Terrier. I go to many Jazz events around the state. I’m a second-degree Black Belt so I spend a good amount of time in the Dojo.
Who is your favorite sports team? I do not have a favorite team. I just like to watch an exciting and competitive game (football & basketball).

Areas of Service:
Business Summary: Gedeon Engineering, PC, d/b/a Gedeon GRC Consulting offers over twenty (20) years of experience as a full service, professional MBE/DBE certified engineering and construction management firm servicing the NY metro and surrounding NY and NJ areas. Located in Princeton, NJ, with two other offices in Syosset, NY (Headquarters) and Troy, NY, our staff of 70 includes professionals with expertise in structural, civil, and traffic engineering, as well as construction/program management and construction inspection.
How many years have you been in business? I have over 35 years’ experience as a structural engineer. I have designed numerous structures utilizing all different building materials: steel, concrete, masonry, light gage, and timber. My projects include a range from commemorative memorials like the African Burial Ground Memorial in New York and the Permanent Memorial to the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade at the United Nations, residential/office renovations, museums, schools, and airport terminal construction. I have been involved in all facets of the design and construction process from concept and schematic design through construction administration.
How did you become involved in the engineering industry? My interest in buildings and the built environment started by appreciating the architecture of some of the buildings in my high school in Sierra Leone. Through my love of the sciences, I was further intrigued by structural engineering. After graduating from Leeds University in the United Kingdom, I started my engineering career at the international firm of Arup and was further inspired by its founder, Sir Ove Arup. I continued to pursue my engineering career when I moved to the United States in the early 1990’s and have remained an active professional in the engineering industry, now as the Director of Building at Gedeon GRC Consulting.
What motivates you? My biggest motivation comes from the sense of accomplishment when a project is completed, and it is being utilized for its intended purpose. This is especially true for the educational establishments and memorials that I have been involved in. I am also motivated by the possibility and opportunity to contribute on projects that have great socio-economic and community focus.
What’s an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know? An interesting fact about the
structural sngineering industry is that a structural engineer’s involvement in a project is rarely realized by the general public and usually only credited to someone else, typically the architect. Without our particular skill set, a great many clients’ dreams could not be achieved.
When did you join the AACCNJ? Gedeon GRC Consulting joined AACCNJ in 2017.
As someone doing business in New Jersey, how does the chamber help you? The chamber has definitely facilitated the possibility of partnering with other professionals in our industry and has made it possible to offer our services and expertise to some of the larger businesses, county, and local agencies in the State.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your AACCNJ Membership? I believe the most valuable aspect of AACCNJ membership has been the chamber’s continued push to provide access to smaller businesses like ours to interact and seek opportunities with the myriad of entities in the State of NJ. It has also been valuable in expanding networking opportunities within and among its membership and beyond.
What advice would you give to other AACCNJ Members? My advice to other members of AACCNJ is to fully participate in the activities and opportunities that the chamber offers and be ready to seize upon the opportunities that will present themselves through the chamber. The chamber can be the catalyst, but you must ensure you follow through to succeed.
When you are not working, where do you enjoy spending your time in New Jersey? When I am not working, I do enjoy spending time in my home with my wife, but also attending social activities within my community.
Who is your favorite sports team? Having lived in England before coming to the United States, I am more of a soccer fan and the team I support is Tottenham Hotspurs. However, for American football, I am a “lukewarm” supporter of the New York Giants, but my favorite sports past time is Track and Field.

About Us:
CASA of New Jersey, Inc. is part of a national network of non-profit programs that advocate for children removed from their families because of abuse or neglect at home. CASA of New Jersey promotes and supports a statewide network of CASA programs (Affiliates). CASA Affiliates recruit and train community volunteers to be a "voice in court" for children removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. These advocates "speak up" for these children, helping them get the services they need and ensuring that they find safe, permanent homes. CASA programs operate in all 21 counties in New Jersey.
The vision of CASA of NJ is that all children of New Jersey who have been removed from their families because of abuse or neglect are served by a qualified, well-trained Court Appointed Special Advocate.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Jersey provides a voice for abused and neglected children by supporting a statewide network of county-based CASA programs. Working through community volunteers, these programs advocate on behalf of children in foster care and other out-of-home placements to ensure their well-being and ultimate placement in safe and nurturing permanent homes.
CASA programs across the state also help the Department of Children and Families (DCF) ensure the safety, well-being, and permanency of these children.
How many years have you been in business? CASA of New Jersey has been in operation since 2000. By 2011, CASA programs existed in all NJ counties.
How did you become involved with this non-profit? I was a CASA volunteer advocate in the Morris/Sussex office for three years and was impressed by both their mission and their commitment to supporting the best life for children in foster care. A position opened up with CASA of New Jersey in New Brunswick for a Statewide Volunteer Coordinator and I jumped at the opportunity to be considered!
What motivates you? I’m motivated by helping people achieve their life’s purpose and supporting their dreams and aspirations – particularly children.
What’s an interesting fact about your non-profit most people don’t know? CASA is the only entity authorized by State Statute to utilize trained volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children in placement. CASA programs received one-fifth of our funding from the State Budget, yet our services save the State more than $7 million a year.
When did you join the AACCNJ? July 7, 2017
As someone doing business in New Jersey, how does the chamber help you? John Harmon and his team have been very instrumental in supporting CASA’s Mission as a non-profit member of the Chamber. CASA of NJ is a proud member and supporter of the AACCNJ and its support of African-American business here in the state and we appreciate the opportunity to network with the membership. There are currently 9500 children in foster care in NJ. 14% of the children in the state are African American but comprise 40% of the children in foster care. The AACCNJ has supported CASA of NJ in communicating these statistics and situation to the members of the Chamber and enlist them in either becoming volunteer advocates or champions of our Mission to provide support of these children statewide.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your AACCNJ Membership? My ability to network with statewide members and obtain exposure to local and national business initiatives has been a key benefit of my membership with the chamber.
What advice would you give to other AACCNJ Members? Recognize and utilize the valuable resources provided by the Chamber! Their Value Proposition is outstanding – check it out!
When you are not working, where do you enjoy spending your time in New Jersey? I am an avid reader and a member of the NJ 2Chapter of the Go On Girl Book Club. The Go On Girl! Book Club is a nationally recognized reading club with 300+ members committed to fostering an awareness of and appreciation for the diverse literary works by authors of the Black Diaspora.
I’m also a Board Member of Soroptimist International Club of the Oranges (NJ) – a chapter of a global volunteer organization that provides women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment in local communities and throughout the world.
Who is your favorite sports team? The Giants! (see below)
Investors Bank and New York Giants team up with CASA of New Jersey (Press Release – August 1, 2019)
At a Signing Day Event on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Investors Bank and the New York Giants announced a joint corporate social responsibility program to benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of New Jersey.
Each time the NY Giants score either a touchdown, field goal or safety during 2019 season, the Investors Bank Foundation will donate $250 to CASA of New Jersey, which provides advocacy for children placed in foster care due to abuse and neglect at home. Investors Bank CEO Kevin Cummings stated “We are proud to be able to support all of the good work that CASA does throughout New Jersey. Commitment to the community is one of our core principles at Investors Bank.”
CASA of New Jersey is grateful and proud to have been chosen by Investors Bank and New York Giants. "Our hope is that this partnership will raise awareness of the need for individuals from across the state to step up and volunteer as Court Appointed Special Advocates." said Liza M. Kirschenbaum, Esq, Associate Director.

Business Summary: We are a risk-management cyber security consulting firm focused on helping organizations prevent data loss and system lock-ups because of data breach.
How many years have you been in business? 2+
How did you become involved in cybersecurity? Someone from the Ukraine hacked my security cameras in 2007 and got inside my home network. It was then that I started to study cyber security.
What motivates you? They said if you love what you do, you won’t work a day in your life. I loved engineering ever since I was a kid. It started with curiosity and became a challenge to understand how things work.
When did you join the AACCNJ? January 2018
As someone doing business in New Jersey, how does the chamber help you? So every contact I have today in my business is because of AACCNJ. It all started for me when I went to a meeting in Jersey City and the director at the time told me to reach out to Mr. Harmon. At that point I was looking for an organization to open doors for me. Ever since that time I have used the connection directly or indirectly to meet business owners or exes from all types of organizations. AACCNJ cannot seal the deal for anyone, but they will open the doors and provide the vehicles.
What has been the most valuable aspect of your AACCNJ Membership? AACCNJ was the first business organization I became a member of. It has afforded me to use it as a stepping stone to connect to other organizations and partners I do business with.
What advice would you give to other AACCNJ Members? Find events that will help you find others you can network with. It is difficult to build trust when you are new. So connecting with an established business partner maybe your best option.
When you are not working, where do you enjoy spending your time in New Jersey? I spend a lot of time giving back to my community as a soccer coach.
Who is your favorite sports team? I love all Philadelphia teams, but my favorite team is the Eagles.
