STAN PRATER

Regional External Affairs Consultant at Jersey Central Power & Light , JCP&L

Stan Prater is a Regional External Affairs Consultant at Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. Stan is the Company’s liaison for over 40 municipalities in Hunterdon and Warren Counties. JCP&L has more than one million customers in a 3,300-square-mile service area and serves 236 municipalities and 13 out of 21 counties in Central and Northern New Jersey.

In 1984 Stan joined JCP&L as a meter reader collector. Over the years, he has held a number of supervisory and management positions in Customer Service. After FirstEnergy acquired GPU, he supported the transition to SAP as a trainer.
Stan is a native of Morristown, NJ and is a 1974 graduate of Morristown High School. In 1979, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Hampton University where he played football for four years. He was his company’s nominee and completed participation in Leadership Morris in 2003. In 2009 he received the Leadership Morris Alumni Association Achievement Award for community leadership. In 2004 he completed The University of Akron College of Business Administration Executive Education Program.

Stan has used his leadership skills in giving back to the community and active in the following organizations: Deacon Board Calvary Baptist Church, Morristown NJ, Advisory Council; Visions and Pathways (formerly Somerset Home) a home for Temporarily Displaced Children, Board Member of the Warren County Economic Development Committee, Board member Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, and Board member of the African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ. 
He is a founding member of the George Gramby Observance Committee (community drug & alcohol prevention group) and founding member of the Hope Chest Scholarship Foundation that offers scholarships to deserving minority students in NJ based on academic achievement and family income. He is also active in several local causes sponsored by JCP&L/FirstEnergy, serving several years as the chair of the Harvest for Hunger Campaign, as a United Way Campaign Coordinator and a member of the Speakers Bureau.

​Stan is married to Barbara Moore Prater and has one daughter, Victoria.
