day 1
day 2
"I was pleased to join the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey for the State of Black New Jersey 2020 Summit today. There is no path to the American Dream that doesn't include education and employment, and not just employment where you’re working for someone else, but the opportunity to build a business and hire employees of your own. But the government, especially in New Jersey, always gets in the way. We need to ease permitting and cut red tape everywhere so we can create opportunities everywhere. We must break down barriers to entrepreneurship instead of building them up. We must prioritize inclusion and opportunity in African American business communities so that qualified African American businesses aren't excluded. Until we do that, and become a state that embraces business instead of chasing it away, African American owned businesses will continue to be left behind. I look forward to working together so that, at a future "State of Black New Jersey Summit", we can sit in the audience and listen to new leaders in the African American business community talk about their successes and the vision for an even brighter and more economically inclusive tomorrow."
