Mary O. Griffin, PMP, IOM

Vice President, Membership Retention and Programs

Mary O. Griffin serves as the vice president of membership retention and programs at the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey (AACCNJ). Mary’s role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of membership relations and programs structured to meet the goals, objectives and service delivery commensurate with the mission of the chamber.

 

Prior to her current position, Mary spent 37 years as a program manager /project director in the telecommunications industry. She started with Bell Labs in 1981 and remained with the company as it was renamed over the years (Bellcore, SAIC, CSO, Telcordia and Ericsson). 

Mary’s expertise in project and program management is illuminated through her ability to successfully execute all project management phases. She is a self-driven, accomplished program manager with a successful track record in building, motivating and leading dynamic teams to achieve and exceed objectives in both the domestic and international markets. She is organized, diligent and result-oriented with great written, oral, interpersonal and negotiation skills. She is also PMI certified.

Mary has effectively executed various projects, globally. She has been responsible for deploying solutions into the customers’ environments while developing and maintaining responsibility for overall customer relationships across all staffing and executive levels. Over the past 37 years, she has managed programs/projects in New York (two years), Atlanta, Georgia (three years), South Africa (two years), Brazil (five years), Norway (four years) and Jamaica (one year), with the remaining years served in New Jersey.

​Mary has served as the first-line customer interface for various telecommunication solutions. She has developed and managed onshore/offshore teams. Mary demonstrates strong leadership, execution, monitoring and controlling skills while managing communications, schedules, risks, resources and support. She proved to be the “go-to person” to close and finalize open issues/action items to ensure quality operations

​Mary received her Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computer science from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina and her master’s degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey
.In her pastime, Mary has also served on the Crossroad Theatre Executive Board. Her greatest joy is the love of her family. She is married to Darius V. Griffin and has five lovely children and eight grandchildren (plus one on the way)
